Our Commitment

CareCaddie is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all Australians, including people with disability, older Australians, and those using assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification software, or alternative input devices.

We recognise that many of the families and individuals using our service may themselves have accessibility needs. Building an inclusive platform is not just a legal obligation — it is central to our mission.

Conformance Standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as referenced by the Australian Government's Digital Service Standard and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

WCAG 2.1 Level AA covers four key principles — our content should be:

• Perceivable — information and user interface components are presentable in ways users can perceive;
• Operable — the interface and navigation can be operated by all users;
• Understandable — content and operation are clear and easy to understand; and
• Robust — content can be interpreted by a wide range of assistive technologies.

What We Have Done

We have taken the following steps to support accessibility on this website:

• Semantic HTML5 elements used throughout to support screen readers and assistive technology;
• All images include descriptive alt text or are marked as decorative;
• Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text);
• Interactive elements (buttons, links, form fields) are keyboard-navigable and include visible focus indicators;
• The website is responsive and adapts to a range of screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%;
• Form inputs are associated with descriptive labels;
• Navigation landmarks and page headings are structured for easy navigation by screen reader users; and
• The mobile navigation menu includes appropriate aria-expanded attributes.

Known Limitations

We are an early-stage platform and continue to improve our accessibility. Known areas we are actively working on include:

• Some third-party embedded content (such as maps or provider widgets) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA;
• Some older PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully accessible — we are working to replace these with accessible HTML alternatives; and
• We are conducting ongoing user testing with people who use assistive technologies to identify and address gaps.

Alternative Access

If you are unable to access any content or functionality on our website due to a disability, we want to help. We can provide information and assistance by:

• Phone — speak with our team directly and we will assist you verbally;
• Email — send us a request and we will respond in an accessible format of your choice; or
• Post — write to us and we will respond in plain language, large print, or another format as needed.

Feedback and Complaints

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you experience any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know. We take all accessibility feedback seriously and will endeavour to respond within five business days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Australian Human Rights Commission at humanrights.gov.au or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where relevant.

Ongoing Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review this statement and our conformance regularly and update it to reflect improvements. We are committed to making CareCaddie progressively more accessible over time.
