In-Home Care

Stay in the comfort of your own home with personalised support tailored to your needs.

What Is In-Home Care?

In-home care — sometimes called home care or community care — provides professional support services delivered directly to you in your own home. It allows older Australians to maintain their independence and continue living in familiar surroundings, with the right level of assistance to suit their individual needs.

Services can range from a few hours of help each week through to comprehensive, daily support for people with more complex care needs.

Types of In-Home Support

Personal Care

Assistance with daily living activities such as showering, dressing, grooming, and continence management. Personal care workers are trained to provide dignified, respectful support.

Domestic Assistance

Help with household tasks including cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, and ironing — keeping your home safe and comfortable without putting strain on you or your family.

Meal Preparation & Nutrition

Support with planning, shopping, and preparing nutritious meals. Some providers also offer meal delivery services for those who prefer it.

Transport & Social Support

Assistance getting to medical appointments, shops, community activities, and social outings — helping you stay connected to the people and places that matter.

Allied Health & Nursing

Visits from registered nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, and other health professionals to support your health and wellbeing at home.

Home Modifications & Equipment

Minor home modifications (such as grab rails and ramps) and assistive equipment (walkers, shower chairs, hospital beds) to improve safety and independence at home.

Government Funding for In-Home Care

The Australian Government funds two main programs to help eligible older Australians access in-home support:
